Overview
From the outside, the mountain housing the Twilight Caverns appears to be the roaring head of some great beast, with the cave mouth forming an open jaw. The entrance is massive — large enough for airships to fly directly inside and dock. Beyond the threshold lies a cavern system that descends deep into the mountain.
The Glowing Crystals
The walls of the Twilight Caverns are studded with tiny glowing crystals that cast a perpetual dim light throughout the caves. This constant twilight gives the caverns their name and creates an eerie, beautiful atmosphere.
- Crystals glow without any visible heat source
- Light varies in color from pale blue to warm amber
- The deeper one goes, the denser the crystal formations
The Harvesting Dilemma
Harvesting the crystals is a tempting source of wealth — they are valued as gemstones and for their luminescent properties. However, removing a crystal causes it to stop glowing almost immediately. Some scholars theorize that the mountain itself channels some form of magic into the crystals. The fear among the superstitious and the wise alike is that taking too many might awaken the mountain.

Ecology
- Fungi forests growing in the perpetual twilight
- Subterranean creatures adapted to the dark
- Unique crystal-based life forms near the deeper deposits
